The UT\/AZ ATV Club did trail repair and brush maintenance on the trail from Kanab town, along the west of Hwy 89, to Hog Canyon. Thirteen Club members and three tractors. Thanks to all who came out to help! Many hands make light work!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent rainfall has significantly worsened an existing area of erosion along the route to the bridge crossing Kanab Creek near Trail Canyon. This section of trail serves as a vital safety corridor, enabling travelers to move from Kanab to the Hog Canyon OHV area without having to use the heavily trafficked Route 89 highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UT\/AZ ATV Club in cooperation with the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation responded to the situation by volunteering 127 hours of labor to restore the trail and conduct general maintenance on this crucial route. Notably, two members contributed not only their time but also their personal tractors to help with the project. In addition to these two tractors, a third was rented, providing essential power to make the necessary repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the restoration, the Club added around 12 tons of material to a low-lying area that typically collects about twelve inches of water following heavy rainfall. This improvement helps prevent future water accumulation and enhances trail safety. Beyond erosion control, club volunteers devoted considerable effort to cutting back the brush along the route. This maintenance activity improves visibility, making the trail safer and increasing enjoyment for all users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
